Davido made the revelation during a recent episode of the Swift Conversations podcast, where he also said his current focus is on music that is more African in style.²
Return to African Sound
The ‘Unavailable’ hitmaker explained that he is working closely with many of his original producers from back home on his next project.³
“The music I am making now is very African. In this next project, I am working with a lot of my original producers from back home,” Davido stated.
U.S. Collaborations Still on the Table
Despite leaning into a more African-inclined sound, Davido noted that he remains open to working with American artists.⁴
“However, I am still an American so definitely there’s going to be collaborations. Me and Chris Brown got an album coming next year,” he said.
Long-Standing Partnership With Chris Brown
Davido and Chris Brown have maintained a strong musical partnership since 2018. The duo has between six to eight notable tracks together.⁵
Some of their well-known collaborations include ‘Blow My Mind’ released in 2019, ‘Lower Body’ also from 2019, ‘Shopping Spree’ in 2020, and ‘Under the Influence’ which came out in 2019.⁶
What to Expect From the Album
While Davido did not share the title or exact release date, he confirmed the joint album is expected next year. Fans anticipate a blend of Afrobeats and R&B, reflecting both artists’ strengths.
The announcement adds to Davido’s run of cross-continental collaborations and signals a continued bridge between Afrobeats and the U.S. music scene, even as he doubles down on his African roots.
