The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), led by Abdulraman Mohammed, is set to commence the screening of presidential and governorship aspirants ahead of the 2027 general elections.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the party’s National Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, on behalf of the National Publicity Secretary, Jungudo Mohammed.
Screening Schedule
According to the statement, the screening of governorship aspirants will take place at 12 noon on Thursday at the PDP National Secretariat Annex, Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja.
This will be followed by the screening of presidential aspirants at 2:00 p.m. at the same venue.
Presidential Screening Committee
The presidential screening committee will be chaired by former Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, with Hassan Sokodobo serving as Secretary.

Governorship Screening Committee
The governorship screening committee will be chaired by former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi, while George Ariolu will serve as Secretary.

Extension of Nomination Deadline
Meanwhile, the Tanimu Turaki-led Interim NWC of the party has extended the deadline for the purchase of nomination and expression of interest forms for the 2027 elections.
In a public notice jointly signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Ini Ememobong, and the National Organising Secretary, Theophilus Shan, the deadline for purchasing forms for all positions has been extended to May 15.
The final date for submission of completed forms has also been moved to May 18, while the screening of aspirants is scheduled for May 19.
Reason for Extension and Screening Details
The interim NWC explained that the extension followed appeals from stakeholders and aspirants across the country.
It further clarified that aspirants for National and State Assembly positions will be screened in their respective states, while governorship and presidential aspirants will undergo screening in Abuja.
The committee added that all other activities in the party’s election timetable remain unchanged.
