The Lagos State House of Assembly has officially inaugurated Mrs. Adenike Abolanle Oshinowo as its first female Clerk.A valedictory session was also held in honour of the immediate past Clerk, Barr. Olalekan Biliamin Onafeko, in recognition of his years of dedicated and exemplary service to the legislature.

The ceremony, held during plenary, was presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa. He said the Office of the Clerk remains central to the efficient running of parliamentary activities.Obasa noted that Mrs. Oshinowo’s wealth of experience, dedication to duty, and commitment to excellence would further strengthen the Assembly’s legislative processes.Administering the oath of office, the Speaker urged Mrs.

Oshinowo to uphold the integrity, professionalism, and cherished traditions of the institution.He expressed confidence in her ability to provide effective leadership for the Assembly’s bureaucracy and contribute to the continued advancement of legislative governance in Lagos State.
During the valedictory session, Obasa paid tribute to Barr. Onafeko, commending his unwavering dedication, diligence, and contributions to the growth of the Assembly during his tenure.According to the Speaker, Onafeko served with distinction, professionalism, and a strong sense of responsibility, leaving a legacy of administrative efficiency and institutional stability since his appointment as Clerk in 2020.

Lawmakers also took turns praising Onafeko, describing him as an exemplary public servant and a perfect gentleman.

They highlighted his loyalty to the House leadership and the impact of his professionalism on the institution.In his valedictory remarks, Barr. Onafeko expressed gratitude to the Speaker, lawmakers, management, and staff for their support throughout his years of service.He described his tenure as a period of learning, growth, and fulfillment, adding that the successes recorded were achieved through collective effort.

Onafeko urged staff to remain committed to excellence, integrity, professionalism, and selfless service as they contribute to the progress of the Assembly.
