The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has thrown its support behind the proposed $25 billion Nigeria–Morocco gas pipeline project, describing it as a transformative initiative for regional energy integration and economic growth.
The bloc noted that the project would enhance energy security across West Africa, expand access to cleaner fuel, and stimulate industrial development among member states. It also highlighted the pipeline’s potential to strengthen cross-border cooperation and boost trade within the region.
ECOWAS reaffirmed its commitment to working with relevant stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the project, which is expected to connect several countries along the West African coast before extending to Morocco and Europe.
