The Federal Government has urged Nigerians to identify and begin using the newly introduced digital postcodes assigned to their various locations, as part of efforts to modernise the country’s addressing system and improve service delivery.
The government said the adoption of digital postcodes would help create a more efficient and reliable addressing framework, particularly for businesses, government agencies, logistics operators and individuals who rely on accurate location information.
The initiative is expected to address longstanding challenges associated with inadequate or inconsistent physical addresses in different parts of the country.
According to the government, Nigerians can check and obtain the digital postcode assigned to their locations and use it when providing their addresses for official, commercial and other relevant transactions.
The new system is also expected to support faster delivery of letters, parcels and other items while improving the ability of emergency services and other critical agencies to locate specific destinations.
The government encouraged citizens to familiarise themselves with the new addressing system and incorporate their digital postcodes into relevant documents and online platforms where applicable.
It added that widespread adoption of the digital postcode system would strengthen Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and contribute to the development of a more organised and technology-driven economy.
The Federal Government therefore called on individuals, businesses and institutions to embrace the initiative and help make the new digital addressing system effective across the country.
