No fewer than 1,200 residents of Kano State have benefited from the Phase III Clean Energy Programme implemented by the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), as part of ongoing efforts to promote sustainable energy solutions and improve livelihoods across the country.
The initiative, which targets households, small businesses, and vulnerable communities, is designed to provide access to clean and renewable energy technologies, including solar-powered systems and energy-efficient devices. Beneficiaries were selected from various communities across the state, with a focus on enhancing economic activities while reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Officials of NASENI said the programme is in line with the Federal Government’s broader agenda to drive energy transition, combat climate change, and expand access to electricity, particularly in underserved and rural areas. The agency noted that the Phase III rollout builds on the successes recorded in earlier phases, which positively impacted thousands of Nigerians in other parts of the country.
According to the agency, the distribution of clean energy solutions is expected to significantly reduce energy costs for beneficiaries, improve productivity for small-scale entrepreneurs, and contribute to environmental sustainability.
