2027: APM Declares Readiness to Defeat APC at Polls

The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has declared its readiness to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections, expressing confidence that it can mobilise Nigerians and emerge as a strong contender at the polls.

The party said it was strengthening its structures and preparing to present a credible alternative to voters ahead of the next general elections.

The APM’s declaration comes as political activities continue to intensify across the country, with political parties already positioning themselves for the 2027 elections.

The party said it would focus on expanding its membership, strengthening its grassroots structures and engaging Nigerians on issues affecting their daily lives.

According to the APM, the 2027 election would provide voters with an opportunity to assess the performance of the present administration and make a decision on the direction they want the country to take.

The party expressed confidence that Nigerians would be receptive to its message, particularly as political discussions increasingly focus on the economy, security, employment, infrastructure and the general cost of living.

The APM said it would build its campaign around policies and programmes capable of addressing these challenges rather than relying solely on political rhetoric.

The party also emphasised the importance of grassroots mobilisation, noting that electoral success in Nigeria depends heavily on the ability of political parties to establish strong structures at the ward and local government levels.

It said its preparations would therefore extend beyond major cities to communities across the country, where it intends to engage voters directly and explain its political agenda.

The APM’s challenge to the APC comes at a time when opposition parties are exploring different strategies for the 2027 elections, including possible alliances and political realignments.

The ruling APC, meanwhile, is expected to rely on its nationwide political structure and the record of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration as it seeks to retain power.

The APM, however, argued that political control should ultimately be determined by the choices of voters and not simply by the strength of existing party structures.

It urged Nigerians to scrutinise the records and manifestos of all political parties before deciding who to support at the polls.

The party also called on its members to remain united and disciplined as preparations for the elections gather momentum.

It said internal cohesion would be critical to building a credible campaign capable of challenging larger political parties.

The APM further stressed the need for a level playing field, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and security agencies to ensure that all political parties are treated fairly throughout the electoral process.

According to the party, credible elections require equal opportunities for candidates, transparent procedures and adequate protection for voters and political participants.

It also urged its supporters to avoid violence and other actions capable of undermining the electoral process.

The party maintained that political differences should be resolved through democratic and legal channels, while campaigns should focus on issues that matter to Nigerians.

As the 2027 elections draw closer, the APM is expected to intensify consultations with stakeholders and potential candidates as it works to consolidate its political base.

The party’s leadership said it was optimistic about its prospects and determined to present itself as a viable alternative to the APC and other major political parties.

It also expressed confidence that the growing political awareness among Nigerians would create opportunities for smaller parties to compete more effectively.

The APM said its objective was not merely to participate in the election but to build a strong political movement capable of winning votes across different regions and demographics.

To achieve this, the party will have to overcome the challenges traditionally faced by smaller political parties, including limited financial resources, weaker organisational structures and difficulties in gaining national visibility.

Nevertheless, the APM maintained that a well-organised grassroots campaign, a credible message and effective mobilisation could help it overcome those challenges.

The party said it would continue to engage Nigerians and build support ahead of the election, while urging citizens to participate actively in the democratic process.

With political realignments already taking shape ahead of 2027, the APM’s declaration adds to the growing competition for national political influence.

Whether the party can translate its confidence into electoral gains will depend largely on the strength of its organisation, the credibility of its candidates, the appeal of its policies and its ability to connect with voters across the country.

For now, the APM says it is prepared for the contest and intends to make the 2027 general elections a decisive opportunity to challenge the dominance of the APC.
