Tragedy has hit the Ahoro-Esinele community in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State following the killing of Michael Oyedokun, one of the teachers abducted from Community High School.
Oyedokun was reportedly beheaded by bandits in a disturbing video said to have been released by his captors on Sunday.
The footage, which later surfaced on Telegram on Monday, showed the teacher bound and forced to speak before he was brutally killed.
The incident has triggered widespread outrage and deepened concerns over the safety of other victims still in captivity.
Residents, families of the abductees, and concerned members of the community have continued to urge security agencies and the state government to intensify rescue efforts to prevent further loss of lives.
Confirming the incident, the Special Adviser on Media to Governor Seyi Makinde, Dr. Suleimon Olanrewaju, said the governor had expressed condolences to the family of the deceased.
He added that the government is employing both kinetic and non-kinetic approaches to secure the release of the remaining victims.
Olanrewaju also revealed that security operatives injured during rescue operations are responding well to treatment, noting that the state government will cover their medical expenses.
