The Anambra State Signage and Advertising Agency (ANSAA) has announced that all presidential candidates intending to campaign in the state must obtain a permit costing N50 million before deploying posters, billboards, branded vehicles, or any other campaign materials.
The agency’s Assistant General Manager, Mr. Chika Ngobili, disclosed this during a briefing on outdoor campaign regulations ahead of the 2027 general elections. He emphasized that the directive applies uniformly to all candidates, including President Bola Tinubu, Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, and others.
Ngobili further stated that monitoring teams would be stationed across the state to ensure strict compliance throughout the campaign period. Violators, he warned, would face penalties, including the removal of unauthorized campaign materials.
He also outlined additional fees for other categories of candidates: senatorial aspirants are required to pay N20 million, House of Representatives candidates N5 million, and those contesting for seats in the Anambra State House of Assembly N1.5 million.
According to him, the payment is a one-time fee that covers the use of various campaign tools such as posters, banners, branded vehicles, public address systems, fliers, buntings, T-shirts, caps, campaign stands, rallies, and other outdoor promotional items within the state.
Ngobili explained that the regulation is designed to ensure orderliness, reduce visual clutter, and create a level playing field for all political parties and candidates.
He added that all campaign materials must be reviewed and approved by the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), which is also responsible for licensing billboard installations before they are displayed anywhere in the state.
The agency also warned political supporters against vandalizing or tampering with opponents’ campaign materials, describing such actions as unlawful and contrary to democratic principles.
