The 51 ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara Central have dismissed reports of a mass defection from the party, insisting that Senator Saliu Mustapha’s decision to leave the APC was personal.
The ward leaders said the party’s grassroots structure across the senatorial district remains intact, with members and leaders committed to the APC.
They urged party supporters to disregard reports suggesting that Mustapha’s defection had triggered a wider movement within the party.
The development comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as politicians and parties intensify efforts to consolidate their support bases.
The ward chairmen reaffirmed their loyalty to the APC and pledged to continue strengthening the party at the grassroots ahead of the 2027 elections.
