Team Nigeria has intensified preparations for the 2026 Commonwealth Games, with the men’s 3×3 basketball team currently holding a final overseas training camp in Amsterdam, Netherlands, ahead of the competition in Glasgow, Scotland.
With just 14 days to the Opening Ceremony, the squad—led by D’Tigers star Ike Nwamu—is fine-tuning its performance through intensive training sessions. The team is also scheduled to play two international friendly matches in Amsterdam before departing for Glasgow.
The camp is expected to provide crucial match experience while giving the coaching crew an opportunity to refine tactics and build team cohesion ahead of the Games.
Preparations are also gaining momentum in athletics, as several Nigeria’s foreign-based stars are set to arrive in the United Kingdom in the coming days to join the national camp.
Among those expected to link up with Team Nigeria are sprint sensation Kanyinsola Ajayi, world record holder Tobi Amusan, quarter-miler Samuel Ogazi, and 400m hurdler Ezekiel Nathaniel, alongside other members of the athletics contingent.
More than 75 Nigerian athletes are currently training in Aberdeen, Scotland, where they are undergoing intensive preparations before moving to Glasgow for the Opening Ceremony.
Team Nigeria will compete in multiple sporting events at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games, as the country aims to deliver another strong performance on the international stage.
