The African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Abia State, Doris Ogala, has sparked widespread reactions after declaring that she will become the state’s next governor, insisting that residents have “no choice” but to accept her leadership.
The Nollywood actress made the statement during a TikTok Live session, a clip of which circulated widely on Sunday, drawing mixed responses ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking during the livestream, Ogala expressed strong confidence in her chances, describing her victory as divinely ordained.
“I, Doris Ogala, as your governor, you don’t have choice. Doris will be your governor, you don’t have choice. God has said it, so shall it be,” she said.
Her remarks quickly ignited debate online, with many social media users reacting to the tone and certainty of her declaration.
Ogala recently emerged as the AAC’s candidate for the 2027 Abia governorship race, positioning herself to challenge incumbent governor Alex Otti.
Following her emergence, she pledged to prioritise the welfare of Abia residents, create jobs and stimulate economic growth if elected.
Before entering partisan politics, Ogala built her career in Nollywood and later became active in political advocacy through the AAC, participating in campaigns and protests on issues affecting Abia State.
In June 2026, she was hospitalised after collapsing during a political consultation in Umuahia. She was admitted to the Federal Medical Centre, where she later interacted with patients from a wheelchair and prayed with them—an episode that also drew mixed reactions online.
