Senator Mustapha Defects Alone, APC Structure Intact – Kwara Central APC 51 Ward Chairmen

The 51 ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara Central Senatorial District have dismissed reports of a mass defection from the party, insisting that Senator Saliu Mustapha’s recent move was an individual decision.

The ward chairmen maintained that the APC structure across the district remains intact, with party leaders and members committed to the organisation.

They said the senator’s defection should not be interpreted as a wider movement of APC members, stressing that the party continues to enjoy strong grassroots support across the district.

The development comes amid growing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, with politicians and supporters moving between political parties.

The Kwara Central APC leaders urged members to remain united and focused on strengthening the party at the grassroots.

They also called on party supporters to disregard reports suggesting that the senator’s decision had triggered a mass exodus from the APC.

According to the ward chairmen, the party remains firmly established across the 51 wards and will continue to mobilise members ahead of future elections.
