The Minister of Power has acknowledged that many Nigerians are still without reliable and consistent electricity supply, despite ongoing efforts by the Federal Government to improve the country’s power sector.
The minister said the government was aware of the challenges confronting electricity consumers and was working to address the problems affecting generation, transmission and distribution.
According to the minister, improving power supply remains a major priority because reliable electricity is essential for economic growth, industrial development and improved living standards.
He noted that inadequate generation capacity, limitations within the transmission network and challenges facing distribution companies continue to affect the quality and reliability of electricity delivered to consumers.
The minister said the government was pursuing reforms and investments aimed at strengthening the entire electricity value chain. These include efforts to increase generation, improve transmission infrastructure and support the distribution network.
He also stressed the need for greater efficiency and accountability across the power sector, noting that sustainable improvements would require cooperation among the Federal Government, private-sector operators, state governments and electricity consumers.
The minister acknowledged that Nigerians have continued to face the impact of unreliable power supply, particularly households and businesses that depend on alternative sources of electricity to meet their daily needs.
He assured Nigerians that the government would continue working with stakeholders to resolve the sector’s longstanding challenges and expand access to dependable electricity.
The minister’s comments come amid continuing efforts to reform Nigeria’s electricity market and attract investment needed to improve infrastructure and strengthen the reliability of power supply nationwide.
