The Kaduna State Government has intensified Ebola surveillance and public awareness activities at key entry points to strengthen preparedness against the possible spread of the disease.
The measures are aimed at improving early detection, educating travellers on preventive measures and ensuring prompt reporting of suspected cases.
Ebola is a serious viral disease transmitted through direct contact with the blood and other bodily fluids of infected people who are showing symptoms, as well as contaminated objects.
Health authorities advise residents and travellers to maintain proper hygiene, avoid contact with suspected cases and seek medical attention if they develop symptoms after possible exposure.
Symptoms include fever, severe weakness, headache, muscle pain, vomiting and diarrhoea. However, these symptoms can also occur in other illnesses and require proper medical assessment.
The public is encouraged to obtain accurate information from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) and other recognised health authorities.
The specific entry points covered by the surveillance exercise and details of any suspected cases should be confirmed with the relevant authorities before publication.
