The Lagos State Government has commenced the upgrade of water facilities in Iju and Akute as part of ongoing efforts to boost potable water supply and improve service delivery across the state.
The project, which focuses on rehabilitating and expanding existing infrastructure, is expected to significantly increase water production capacity and enhance distribution to residents in surrounding communities. Officials said the upgrade will address longstanding challenges associated with water shortages and ageing facilities.
According to the state government, the initiative forms part of a broader strategy to ensure sustainable access to clean and safe water, particularly in the face of rapid urbanisation and rising demand. The upgraded facilities are also expected to improve operational efficiency, reduce system losses, and ensure more consistent supply.
