The family of late Nollywood comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr Ibu, has appealed for financial assistance, revealing that they are facing severe hardship following his death.

Speaking in a viral interview with social media influencer King Mitchy, Mr Ibu’s widow, Stella Marris Okafor, disclosed that the family has been struggling to meet basic needs, including access to electricity, running water, and education for their children.

According to her, the family has been living without electricity for the past two months and now relies on a well for water after falling behind on rent payments.

Stella further revealed that her three children — a 14-year-old daughter and two sons aged 12 and 10 — are currently out of school because the family can no longer afford their school fees.

The late actor’s daughter, who appeared alongside her mother in the interview, expressed appreciation for her mother’s efforts to keep the family going despite the challenges.

The emotional plea has sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing sympathy for the family and calling on colleagues, friends, and well-wishers of the late actor to offer support.

Mr Ibu, one of Nollywood’s most beloved comic actors, passed away in March 2024 after a prolonged health battle, leaving behind a legacy that brought laughter and joy to millions across Africa.
