A Nigerian cleric, Kedi Samuel Kenechukwu, also known as Ekedi Samuel, has reportedly gone into hiding after a mummified body was discovered buried beneath a concrete slab at a property linked to his church in Yaoundé, Cameroon.
Kenechukwu, founder of Mercy of God Ministry, is currently wanted by Cameroonian security authorities over allegations including human trafficking, unlawful detention and kidnapping. The latest discovery has intensified investigations into properties associated with the ministry.
According to reports by Cameroon Tribune, officers from the Nkoabang Special Police Station discovered the body on September 19, 2026, at about 9am while investigating activities linked to the cleric.
Investigators reportedly found a white-and-gold coffin buried approximately 1.5 metres beneath a concrete slab at the property in Nkoabang. The body inside was said to be in a state of mummification.
The discovery reportedly followed the vandalisation of parts of the property by residents, after which investigators uncovered the concealed underground area.
Authorities have not yet established the identity of the deceased or determined the circumstances surrounding the death. Further forensic examinations and investigations are expected to provide more information.
The latest development comes weeks after another operation at a property reportedly associated with Mercy of God Ministry in Ngousso, Yaoundé.
During the September 6 operation, security officials reportedly discovered 20 people, comprising 10 women, eight men and two children aged six and seven, inside a basement on the property.
The discovery prompted authorities to expand their investigations to other locations allegedly connected to the ministry.
