President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated six individuals for appointment as executive directors of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), subject to confirmation by the Senate.

The nominations are part of the Federal Government’s efforts to fill key leadership positions within the petroleum regulatory agency and strengthen its administration.

The three directors nominated for reappointment are Abiodun Adeniji, for Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha, for Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Mustapha Lamorde, for Health, Safety, Environment and Community.

The three new nominees are Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa, for Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie, for Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib, for Corporate Services and Administration.

According to a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the six nominees will serve five-year terms if confirmed by the Senate.

Tinubu urged the lawmakers to consider the nominations promptly to ensure continuity in the agency’s operations and strengthen its regulatory responsibilities in Nigeria’s midstream and downstream petroleum sectors.

In a related development, the President also approved the appointment of Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board and Legal Adviser of the NMDPRA, subject to the completion of the required statutory procedures under the Petroleum Industry Act.

The nominations are expected to strengthen the agency’s leadership structure and support its responsibility for regulating Nigeria’s petroleum industry.
