Lecturers at the University of Lagos (UNILAG) have announced an indefinite strike starting Wednesday, March 11, 2026, over unpaid salary components for January and February 2026. The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) UNILAG chapter claims the university paid “amputated” salaries, missing allowances like Earned Academic Allowance (EAA) and Consolidated Academic Tools Allowance (CATA). The union rejects the salary cuts, calling the administration’s action “wicked and unfeeling”. UNILAG management says exams will continue, citing procedural issues with the strike declaration.¹ ² ³
