Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, has expressed profound grief over the death of renowned communication scholar, Dr Musa Adamu Labaran of the Faculty of Communication, Bayero University, Kano, who passed away yesterday after a brief illness.
In a condolence message issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, the governor described the loss as a significant blow to academia, the media industry, and society at large.
He noted that Dr Labaran was a distinguished scholar, mentor, and intellectual whose contributions to communication studies, media scholarship, and public discourse will remain impactful for years to come.
Governor Yusuf added that the late academic devoted his life to teaching, research, and mentoring generations of students and professionals, leaving behind a legacy marked by excellence, integrity, and selfless service.
He further observed that Dr Labaran’s passing has created a huge void in both the academic and communication sectors, given his dedication to knowledge sharing and intellectual growth.
The governor prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.
He also extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, colleagues in the academic community, media practitioners, as well as friends and associates of the late scholar during this difficult period.
