The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has accused former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai of violating the conditions of a court-approved medical visit while in its custody and announced the arrest of his personal physician, Prof. Bello Abubakar.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the anti-graft agency alleged that El-Rufai used the medical visit to hold meetings with political associates instead of attending the approved medical consultation. The commission further claimed that Prof. Abubakar made false statements regarding the visit and has been taken into custody as investigations continue.
According to the ICPC, the medical visit was approved in compliance with a court directive and its obligation to safeguard the rights and welfare of persons in custody. The commission added that it would present the alleged breach before the court handling the case. (punchng.com)
