The Federal Government has filed a 10-count charge against three suspects—Abdulrazak Umar (a.k.a. Abu Khalifa/Abu Khalid), Yunusa Musa (a.k.a. Yunusa bin Musa), and Shamsu Adamu Sani (a.k.a. Abu Itisar)—in connection with the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The charges were instituted by the Department of State Services (DSS) before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
According to the charge sheet, the defendants are accused of offences including terrorism, kidnapping, concealment of information, incitement, and illegal mining.
Prosecutors allege that between January and May 2026, the trio conspired with others still at large to carry out the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oriire LGA. They are also accused of aiding the perpetrators and withholding critical intelligence that could have led to the prevention of the crime or the arrest of those responsible.
The charges further claim that the suspects were members of a terrorist group identified as Darul Salam, said to be affiliated with the proscribed Jama’atu Ansarul Muslimina Fi Biladis Sudan (Ansaru).
One of the defendants, Umar, is specifically accused of using a WhatsApp group to train and incite members to carry out acts of terrorism through extremist teachings.
Additionally, he is alleged to have engaged in illegal gold mining activities in Suleja, Niger State, without lawful authority.
All offences are said to be contrary to relevant provisions of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, the Cybercrimes Act, and the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
