NDLEA Intercepts High-Potency Drugs Hidden in Water Purifiers Shipped from Netherlands
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted consignments of high-potency illicit drugs concealed in water purifier machines imported from the Netherlands to Lagos.
The agency said 3kg of ketamine and 199g of MDMA, commonly known as Ecstasy, were carefully hidden inside the machines. They were discovered and seized at a courier facility in Lagos on May 26.
The seizure forms part of NDLEA’s ongoing clampdown on drug trafficking through international shipping routes.
Couple, Others Arrested in Kaduna with Over 1 Ton of Skunk
In a separate operation in Kaduna State, NDLEA officers arrested a couple, Musa Sunday and Mercy Sunday, alongside Salomi Ezekiel, 38, after recovering 100 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 1,246kg from their residence in Gonin Gora on May 24.
Also along the Abuja-Kaduna Highway at Jere, operatives intercepted 30-year-old Sunusi Musa with 380 rounds of military-grade 7.62mm ammunition allegedly en route to Katsina State. The suspect and ammunition have been transferred to the appropriate security agency for further investigation.
Warehouse Raid in Niger Yields 457kg of Skunk
Meanwhile in Niger State, NDLEA operatives acting on intelligence raided a warehouse at Gidan Kukah, Bosso LGA, on May 27 and recovered 457kg of skunk. A 46-year-old suspect, Godwin Zakka, was later arrested at his Gbeganu residence in Minna in connection with the seizure.
The agency said the operations reflect its resolve to dismantle drug trafficking networks and block the circulation of illicit substances nationwide.
Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be prosecuted at the conclusion of inquiries.
