Governors of Delta and Akwa Ibom states, Sheriff Oborevwori and Umo Eno, have expressed strong support for the re-election of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, outlining several reasons they believe he remains best suited to lead Nigeria at this time.
Both governors argued that Tinubu заслуживает a second term, citing his administration’s reforms, which they said have significantly increased state revenues and enabled unprecedented development at the subnational level.
Speaking separately in interviews on ARISE Television, the governors also voiced confidence that their respective states would deliver overwhelming support for Tinubu in the next election, pointing to prevailing political dynamics and the visible impact of federal policies on state finances.
Oborevwori, who said his own re-election was no longer in doubt, noted that his priority had shifted fully to ensuring Tinubu’s victory, describing it as his foremost political objective.
He added that Tinubu’s ties to Delta State—being married to an Itsekiri woman—could further strengthen the state’s influence at the national level and create more opportunities for federal appointments and patronage.
The Delta governor maintained that the ruling party had little to fear, insisting that its performance would speak for itself. He also predicted that the voting pattern seen in the 2023 presidential election, which favoured Labour Party candidate Peter Obi in the state, would not recur, noting that his administration had fostered unity across ethnic and religious lines.
Oborevwori further credited Tinubu’s economic reforms for improving Delta’s financial standing, stressing that increased revenues had made it possible to fund key projects and meet obligations.
He also dismissed concerns about any political threat from former Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, describing his exit from the party as expected and his political stance as unreliable.
Similarly, Governor Eno said there were compelling reasons to back Tinubu, highlighting the significant increase in resources available to states as a result of federal reforms.
He pointed to major strides in infrastructure, education, healthcare, and tourism in Akwa Ibom, attributing these achievements to improved funding under the current administration.
Eno also referenced broader economic indicators—such as tax reforms, exchange rate stability, foreign reserves, and GDP performance—as justification for granting Tinubu another term to consolidate ongoing reforms.
Calling for unity among political stakeholders, he urged support for Senate President Godswill Akpabio, stressing the importance of sustaining the state’s influence at the national level.
