Thousands March in Lagos Protest Over Insecurity, Rising Cost of Living
A broad coalition of civil society groups, labour unions, youth movements, community associations, and faith-based organisations took to the streets of Lagos on Friday to protest worsening insecurity and the rising cost of living across Nigeria.
Politics Nigeria reports that participants converged from different parts of the state, saying living conditions have become increasingly unbearable for ordinary citizens.
The protesters gathered at Ikeja Under Bridge, a major convergence point in the state capital, before marching in an orderly procession.
They called for urgent intervention from the Federal Government, insisting that the economic crisis and security challenges demand immediate, practical solutions.
According to the coalition, the demonstration was triggered by escalating hardship, deepening insecurity, and policy decisions that continue to strain households and small businesses.
They argued that many Nigerians are struggling to cope with inflation, unemployment, and rising costs of transport and food.
