Following Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan’s (APC, Borno Central) cash distribution, House of Representatives member representing Borno Central, Abdulkadir Rahis, has also distributed N26 million to 442 APC executives in the Maiduguri Metropolitan Constituency. Rahis, who secured the APC ticket with 20,509 votes, said the funds were intended for Sallah celebrations and form part of his longstanding tradition of supporting party loyalists during festive periods. The gesture came shortly after Senator Lawan reportedly donated N135.65 million to APC executives within the same constituency. The event attracted party executives, ward officials, and key stakeholders from across the area. Both lawmakers explained that the financial support was aimed at strengthening party structures and assisting members during the Sallah season. The public distribution of cash has, however, generated mixed reactions, with supporters commending the gesture while critics raised concerns over money politics and its implications ahead of the 2027 elections. If re-elected, Rahis would serve his fifth consecutive term in the House of Representatives, having previously served five terms as Chairman of the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council. Speaking via Facebook, he described the gesture as part of his consistent practice of supporting party members and stakeholders during festive periods. The event drew APC executives, ward leaders, supporters, and other stakeholders across the constituency.
