A coalition of labour leaders, professionals, and artisans under the umbrella of Working People United (WOPU) has congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on his victory in last weekend’s All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential primaries.
According to the results announced by former Senate President Anyim Pius Anyim, who chaired the party’s Presidential Election Committee, Tinubu secured over 10 million votes in the direct primary to clinch the APC ticket for the forthcoming general election.
His sole challenger, Stanley Osifo, polled 16,503 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Tinubu assured Nigerians of his commitment to consolidating on the achievements of his administration over the past three years.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Abuja and signed by WOPU National Coordinator, Comrade (Prince) Williams Eniredonana Akporeha, the group described the outcome as a historic endorsement of the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
“The votes of 10.9 million Nigerians cannot be dismissed as an error; they were earned through policies that prioritise the welfare, productivity, and future of the people.
“From our members across 8,809 wards to the 774 local government areas, the message is clear: working people trust President Tinubu to complete the good work he has started,” the statement read.
WOPU noted that the administration’s pro-people initiatives—such as the Student Loan Scheme, support for small businesses, and efforts to stabilise the economy despite global challenges—have strengthened the President’s connection with artisans, farmers, transport workers, and professionals nationwide.
The group reaffirmed its commitment to mobilising its over 70 million grassroots members to secure Tinubu’s victory in the general election.
“We are not just celebrating today; we are preparing for tomorrow. The 4+4 Renewed Hope vision is a mission that must be completed, and working people will lead the charge,” the statement added.
