Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has appointed former Vice-Chancellor of Modibbo Adama University, Yola, Professor Abdullahi Liman Tukur, as the Director-General of the Adamawa Renewed Hope 226 Movement (ARH 226M).

The appointment, announced on Wednesday, is part of efforts to strengthen the political mobilisation structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The movement is designed as a grassroots political mobilisation platform with a presence across the 226 wards in Adamawa State. It is expected to play a strategic role in mobilising party members, supporters and other stakeholders in support of the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. (Prime Time News)

The Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Humwashi Wonosikou, disclosed the appointment in a statement issued in Yola, explaining that Fintiri was confident in Tukur’s capacity to lead the movement and deliver on its political objectives.

According to the statement, Tukur brings to the assignment extensive academic experience, leadership credentials and a strong understanding of grassroots mobilisation.

Fintiri described the former university administrator as a man with an impressive academic pedigree, proven leadership qualities and a commitment to democratic ideals. The governor also highlighted Tukur’s experience in governance, scholarship and grassroots engagement as important attributes that would help drive the activities of the movement.

The appointment comes at a time when political activities are gradually intensifying across Nigeria ahead of the 2027 elections. Parties and political groups have begun strengthening their grassroots structures, building alliances and mobilising supporters in preparation for what is expected to be a highly competitive electoral contest.

Fintiri tasked the new Director-General with working closely with APC leaders, political stakeholders, youths and women groups to expand the reach and influence of the Adamawa Renewed Hope 226 Movement across all 21 local government areas of the state.

The governor further expressed confidence that Tukur’s integrity, intellectual depth and record of service would help unite party members and stakeholders around the movement’s objectives.

Fintiri also approved the appointment of Chiwaren Emmanuel Abubakar as Secretary of the Adamawa Renewed Hope 226 Movement. Abubakar is expected to work closely with the Director-General and other party stakeholders to strengthen the organisation and ensure effective coordination of its activities. (peoplespost)

The governor urged APC members and supporters across Adamawa to give Tukur and the movement their full cooperation as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.

The new appointments are expected to provide a stronger organisational framework for the APC’s mobilisation efforts in the state, particularly at the ward and local government levels.

With Tukur’s appointment, attention will now shift to how the new leadership structure translates the movement’s political objectives into effective grassroots engagement, party mobilisation and voter outreach ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The development also signals the growing importance of structured grassroots mobilisation in Adamawa’s emerging political landscape, with political actors increasingly focusing on ward-level organisation and direct engagement with voters as the election season approaches.
