The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned Governor Ademola Adeleke and his commissioners against accusing President Bola Tinubu of withholding local government allocations meant for the state.
The warning came after the Commissioner for Education, Dipo Eluwole, said during a radio programme that the Federal Government has been holding back funds allocated to local governments in Osun.¹
APC Questions Claims on Federal Allocations
Reacting on Wednesday, APC Director of Media and Information Kola Olabisi queried why Governor Adeleke and his commissioners continue to criticise President Tinubu despite what he called “unusual” increases in federal allocations and other revenue streams now available to states.²
Olabisi advised the education commissioner to be careful with how he presents information to avoid misleading the public.
Court Judgment and LG Chairmen
The APC spokesperson reminded Eluwole that the reinstated APC local government chairmen benefited from the February 10, 2025 Court of Appeal judgment. He said the ruling granted all prayers of the current APC state executives carrying out their constitutional duties in the local government areas.³
Technical College, School Feeding Dispute
On the state technical college in Osogbo, Olabisi said Eluwole blamed rainstorm damage on the government’s alleged inaction. He noted that the roofs of some buildings were blown off by the storm and that the commissioner later appealed for support from stakeholders.
The APC also rejected Eluwole’s claim that Adeleke’s administration stopped feeding pupils in public schools because of problems with local government allocations. According to Olabisi, the Adeleke-led government did not run the school feeding programme for more than three months.⁴
Teacher Recruitment and Information Claims
Olabisi criticised what he described as an empty promise that the governor would employ more teachers in a second term, stating that the government has not been recruiting teachers.
The APC director further faulted the Commissioner for Information, Kolapo Alimi, over allegations that the APC instigated the feud between Sally Tibbot and Adeleke’s administration. He described those claims as false.
Olabisi said Alimi should find better ways to communicate with the public, adding that residents of the state are tired of such accusations. He questioned why commissioners were featuring on radio programmes while Governor Adeleke, who he said should be the chief host, was absent. He called the radio appearances a misuse of state resources and a diversion with no measurable impact.
2026 Governorship Outlook
Olabisi declared that Adeleke’s defeat in the August 15, 2026 governorship election was “imminent.” He insisted that the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), would defeat the governor.⁵
Party’s Position
The APC maintained that the state government should focus on governance rather than what it termed unfounded claims against the Federal Government. It urged the Adeleke administration to account for allocations received and address education and local government issues directly.
