Nigeria’s Minister of Defence has called for stronger cooperation between Nigeria and Türkiye to promote sustainable industrial development and deepen bilateral ties.
The minister said enhanced collaboration between both countries could create opportunities for technology transfer, local manufacturing, skills development and investment, particularly in strategic sectors.
He emphasised the importance of partnerships that go beyond the supply of equipment to building Nigeria’s domestic industrial capacity and strengthening local expertise.
The minister noted that Türkiye’s growing defence and manufacturing capabilities could provide valuable opportunities for Nigeria through joint ventures, technical partnerships and knowledge sharing.
He also stressed the need for sustainable initiatives that would deliver long-term economic benefits, create jobs and strengthen Nigeria’s industrial base.
The call comes amid growing diplomatic and economic relations between Nigeria and Türkiye, with both countries exploring opportunities to expand cooperation in defence, trade, infrastructure, energy and technology.
The minister expressed optimism that deeper collaboration would strengthen Nigeria’s self-reliance while creating a mutually beneficial partnership between the two nations.
